Newcastle United ‘interested’ in two free agents including former Man City player

Newcastle United could be in for a busy summer transfer window.

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in two free agents ahead of the summer transfer window.

Last season, Eddie Howe managed to lead the Magpies into the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League.

However, their Champions League dream was ended after finishing behind Paris Saint Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan in what was described as the Group of Death.

This season, Newcastle are in a fight to finish in the European places as they currently sit seventh in the league table, one point behind Manchester United.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it has been claimed Newcastle are interested in signing Fulham’s former Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly. Both players are set to be available on a free as their contracts are set to expire when the current campaign draws to a close.

As reported by Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, who wrote on social media: “Newcastle are interested in defenders Lloyd Kelly & Tosin Adarabioyo. Both players are out of contract in the summer, but have other clubs interested.

“Tosin has two other PL clubs keen, while Kelly has PL clubs, Monaco & Juventus interested in signing him. AC Milan have also registered interest in both players.

Representatives of both players have already held talks with European clubs.”

He continued: “Kelly currently more likely than Tosin as far as a move to #NUFC is concerned. But both players keeping options open, — but things expected to advance once season ends.”

Newcastle could also face a fight to keep hold of star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who reportedly has a release clause of £100 million which is valid until the end of June.

Speaking about Guimaraes’ release clause, Howe said: “Having that was well planned and structured by the club, in a sense that there’s a sort of finish point. We don’t want constant speculation, it’s not healthy for the player or for us.

“It goes without saying we want to keep him, I want to build our team around him.

His form has been very good — he seems very happy and settled.

He’ll be thinking about a very busy summer ahead, where hopefully we can take the team with him a big part of it. But we aren’t in control of that so let’s see.”
